As a passionate community member, City Councillor, mother, and entrepreneur, I am proud to call New Westminster my home. Living here, my family has found friendships, support, inspiration and a great deal of fun! New Westminster is doing amazing things and has so much to offer, from the vibrant riverfront to the close-knit, distinctive neighbourhoods and deep cultural history.

The community we live in is growing and changing all the time. During my first term, I've been hearing from constituents that are "excited" and "thrilled" with the changes New Westminster has seen. As a Councillor, it's my responsibility to consider all the voices of residents and business owners in order to make thoughtful decisions and recommendations that serve the whole community. I feel it’s extremely important to listen for those that don’t speak up or make themselves heard. I take this responsibility very seriously and believe it is reflected in the work I have done.

As a mom with a young family, I bring a unique voice and perspective to the Council table. I understand the challenges families face when it comes to housing and liveability. We need to continue to push for innovative development that includes a wide range of housing choice that includes town homes, laneway homes, condos and market and non-market rental. We need to continue to expand on our city services and amenities by making sure we are meeting our current needs and planning for the future.

I am also very committed to building New Westminster as a technological and creative hub. We have done so much work to improve our economic development, for example building a fibre network. This infrastructure is proving to be very attractive to technology businesses and the health care industry. With a major expansion of the Royal Columbian Hospital, we are hoping to see a job creation double at this facility, in turn driving more demand for retail, services, restaurants and shops.

There are numerous projects I would like to see through and work I would like to continue. Click here to see the committees that I've chaired or participated in over the past four years.

My own small business, 32 Solutions, provides online business management. I also indulge my lifelong passion for books with another small business called Live Wire Lit, where I have the joy of assisting authors with publishing their work.

Previous community contributions include past co-chair of the Lord Kelvin Parent Advisory Committee and member of the St. Barnabas Parents Board of Directors. I also partnered with Nadine Nakagawa on the creation of "Paint New West Beautiful". With assistance from the Vancouver Foundation Small Grants Program and support from the Arts Council of New Westminster, plus the talent and hard work of over 200 community members, we have been able to create three beautiful murals in the community. Check out the fun and colour that has been added to the streetscapes on Columbia Street, Moody Park and the West End Fire Hall.

Which brings me to the best thing about my life: my family. The loves of my life are my seven-year-old son and patient and supportive husband. The family is rounded out with Walter, our crazy toddler dog, and a cranky cat named Zoe. Our household is super busy with sports, arts, dance and hanging out in this incredible city. Both my husband and I are working to consciously root our son's life in the community so that he sees the value of giving back and helping others. I want him to know that his voice is important and that he should always speak up for himself and others. Our kids are our future and we need to inspire and create a wonderful place for them.

Please support me again in my campaign for City Councillor.
